Lake Daniell 1
Leaving Blenheim, we had to back track through nelson lakes and down to Lewis Pass and over to Hanmer Springs. On the way we stopped off at Lake Daniell, a 5 mile hike through the woods to a hut and the Lake.
The first section wound along the creek and then the river after crossing the "sluice box" on a bridge, pictured above.
Sue and I decided to see how fast we could walk there. We measured in "weasal traps," the triangle markers that show where traps are. Sue predicted 80 for the 5 miles and was exactly right!
Mix of clouds and sun at the lake. A few flies but not horrible.
And of course, beer and snacks.
