Waimea was my favorite place to stay. The drive there was along the coast initially, so I stopped off for a scenic overlook.
I got to town and got checked in, then headed for a pedicure before lunch at the brewery. It's a cowboy town!
Fantastic brewery, Big Island Brewhaus. Great beer selection and super friendly people. Waimea is off the tourist beaten path (only two motels), which I preferred.
I stayed at the country lodge, which was a pretty standard small town motel.
With baby chicks in the carpark...
My second morning in Waimea I went to the general store for coffee and an amazing breakfast burrito.
And another glimpse of Mauna Kea from the northeast this time!
