Routeburn in snow

While it didn't snow the foot that was expected, there was more than enough for some amazing scenery when we woke up!

Around the flats.

The hut. The winter toilet was pretty cold and far away!

Heading out.

Along the track.

So gorgeous.
I had Christmas carols stuck in my head...

Along the river.

Perfect snow!

Heading downward. But still plenty of snow.

Back to the carpark.
And a nice drive back with a stop at the overlook midway between Queenstown and glenorchy!

Up to routeburn.

Saturday, after nick was done with work, we headed to the routeburn. Quick stop in glenorchy for cell service and toilets and then we were at the carpark.
Heading out!
Gorgeous walk through the forest.

And heading up to snow!
The usual random toilet.
Getting dark. Made the snow more fun.

Arrived at the hut and put the drinks in the chilly bin!
And a nice candlelit happy hour!

Queenstown hill

Friday I went for a wander up Queenstown hill. Excellent snow at the top. I was going to go to the summit but too icy!
Sun and snow. Perfect.

Up at the summit. Got chilly really fast after I had taken off all my layers on the walk uphill!

Beer and chocolate.
After waiting for some tourists to get out of the basket of dreams (for 30 min!) I got some good pics!

The icy walk I did not attempt.

And now heading back down.
Gorgeous day and walk!
