Rakiura walk.

Tuesday we headed out for a walk around the island about 8am. Gorgeous sunrise.

We walked along the path to golden bay and there was a kiwi just hanging out on the side of the path!  He just walked right past us!
And more gorgeous views.
We ended up doing part of the Great Walk on the island. This meant the trails we super well maintained. We walked from north arm over to port William hut, a little over 13k.
Basically bisecting the island, we walked from east to west.
Halfway point marker.
Some Boardwalk. There was mud, but not nearly as much as the other trails would have had.

Near the other side, we came upon the remains of a logging operation.
And getting to the hut!

Views over port william bay.

Super excited to see the hut!  We hadn't had lunch yet!

Sunset time at 530pm. We had the hut to ourselves so brought the mattresses into the area with the fire!
