Indy 1

I made a quick trip up to Indianapolis to visit some friends. Unfortunately about 6 hours after arriving I came down with a horrid stomach bug. But I did get in a 10k run around the canal beforehand! It was a gorgeous day.
The canal walk is a great track and also connects up with white river state park.
All kinds of random sculpture along the trails.
The NCAA hall of fame.
Footbridge with Lucas oil field in the background.
More sculptures.
The city skyline, heading towards white river park.
University hospital on the left across the water.

As I headed back, started to get some clouds.

Canal walk area where Kristelle lives. Gorgeous place.
The Capitol building.
And then I died for about 18 hours!  Not fun!

Indy 2

Once I returned to the land of the living I was able to go for a bit of a wander around Indy. Fun to find the Kurt Vonnegut library as I was reading one of his books.

A bit chillier on the second day. I had hoped to go to the zoo, but it was closed Tuesdays.

So just wandered the outside.
I headed back to the downtown area to find some food (in hopes of having an appetite) saw an interesting sign.

Pictures from monument circle.

I found a nice spot for a flight or in this case a curler!
The sun came out and Kristelle and I went for an art walk. Lovely day.
Still mirror lake.

Cold but sunny!

Sunset early....
We met up with Stutey for a proper EVMS reunion. And my awesome shirt from Jen!

Despite my illness I still enjoyed getting to see a new city and terrific friends.

Black rock/Annapolis Rock Hike

Sunday with the wanderbirds I went up to Maryland for a 9.5 mile hike along the Appalachian trail.
I wore my backpack packed for overnight trips to provide a little training for an upcoming backpacking trip to New Zealand.
Added some beers for weight!
Overlook from black rock.

At Annapolis rocks, which is only 2.2 miles from parking, there were a lot more people wandering about.
Still had some nice views including greenbrier lake in the distance.
After the hike we celebrated Mary's 45th year of hiking. She started with the wanderbirds in 1970!  Quite impressive!

NoVA time

I headed up to northern Virginia for a nice break from work. The best part was there was sun and blue skies there!  It had rained and been gray for 6 days straight in Pinehurst.
Got pictures of 3 of the 4 cats. Enjoying my new iPhones ability to take live photos, however none of the sharing apps like the blog or Facebook or Instagram can actually share them as anything but a still photo....

Then on to play with another crazy animal, Eve. I was introduced to runnin with a jogging stroller.
Much much harder workout!
Halloween leftovers.
For my long run I headed to the lake mercer/Burke lake/south run rec center loop. Gorgeous day and lots of leaves.
Lake mercer.

And over to Burke lake.

Another live photo that can't be shared live....

After 19k, fajitas at uncle julios in Fairfax corner were perfect. So glad I got to be off work for an 85 degree November day!
