Harper's ferry

On Valentine's Day we set out for a very chilly hike. The high was forecasted to be 19F in town, so would be colder at elevation. We decided to just do the moderate hike, skipping Maryland heights, which is cold in summer!

We started at keys gap. Very bundled up. I'm fairly certain we were in Virginia at this point. We would be in 3 states as we walked.
Pretty blue skies were deceiving. It was cold!
Lots of snow on this side of the mountain. The hike was along the AT so at least the trails were good.
Entering Harper's ferry and West Virginia.
Getting slightly warmer as we were on the sunny side of the mountain.

Still plenty of frozen water falls! Luckily not much ice on this stew and narrow part of the trail.
Potomac river. When we got closer could see ice in it.
Heading to the bridge to cross the Potomac.
Gorgeous views from the bridge.

A little windy!
Heading towards town now past the AT visitors center.
Jeffersons rock.
The AT goes right thru town, so there is a trail blaze on the lamp post!
Ice in the river as we cross the rail bridge and into Maryland
Lots of ice flowing down the river.
And more iced water falls as wel walked along the c&o canal trail.
Arrived back at weaverton falls car park for beers! Cold but great hike!
