Airboats and alligators

Monday we decided to go out in the swamp on an airboat and find alligators. After some initial challenges with waiting for 2 hours in the rain, we finally made it out.
We raced thru the start of the Everglades, and I definitely felt like I was in the opening credits of CSI Miami.
We saw a good bit of gators ranging in size from this tiny guy to a 17 footer!
What started as a rainy day turned quite nice.
Zeus, the 17 footer!

We liked Zeus. Luckily he sees the boat as one big giant animal. Otherwise he would have grabbed one or more of us as lunch.
Nest of a red headed heron of some description.
Said bird in the distance.

And more swamp!
A bald eagle. They are quite common here apparently. Overall a great ride, even if the pre game was a little painful!
