Abingdon, Oxford, Bristol

After meeting at Heathrow (thank goodness for the arrival lounge where I could get coffee and food while waiting for Nick to land), we headed first to Abingdon, just next to Oxford.  This is where Nick grew up until age 6 when he and family moved to Guernsey.  We stayed at his parents house there, just next door to his older sisters house.

We had a lovely dinner at an Indian place the first night, and the next morning we went on a run to counteract the calories :)  We are also training for the Queenstown half marathon/10K so plenty of running this holiday.  We made our way over to the River Thames.

Fairly muddy path by the river but we made it back to town for the second half of the run.

Halfway break.

Very quaint town.

Even the tiniest of villages seem to be "twinned" with somewhere.

Heading to Plymouth next, we briefly swung through Oxford.  Between the buses and the super narrow roads, it was a bit harrowing.  I snapped one castle picture and we headed out!

On our way to Plymouth we stopped in Bristol for lunch and a walk.  Found a couple breweries and also an excellent cheese and onion toastie!

The River Avon.

The tiniest and emptiest of pubs in Bristol, King William.

Heading out of town, past the SS Great Britain, world's first steamship.

Clifton Bridge in the distance as we head to Plymouth!  Apparently the guy who built this

"built the whole of west England and invented everything."  --Nick.
