Nu'alolo trail

Tuesday we checked out of our cabin and headed out for one more hike in the park. This one was on the Nu'alolo  trail out to lolo vista. A lot of downhill (mud!) on the way out.
Random meadow along the way.
I need to find out the name of these flowers. They remind me of pohutakawa.
Heading out to the vista which looks along the na'pali coast.

Almost there (3.8 miles total).
And more steep muddy downhill.
There has been a lot of erosion since a fire in 2012. I was last here in 2010. The previous loop trail is now closed. Nick was glad, as that would have added 4 extra miles to the hike :)
Almost there, I promise! (Nick has a cold and was less than keen in the sun and mud)
The cliff trail is closed. We headed to the vista.
There it is!

Very long half a mile.
And now looking back.
The trail is nicely labeled with "end". There was also a "start".

Beer of course.
And some great views.

Plenty of views along the coast and the cliffs. :)

We headed back along the 4 miles of now mostly uphill.....
Still some evidence of the fire.
Nick was getting a little overheated. I made a helpful head scarf :)
And made it to the end! Just as the clouds rolled in and the rain started. Great timing! Loved Koke'e and Waimea canyon!
