Copland track Architect to Douglas Rock Hut

We carried on from architect (10k in so far) towards welcome flat hut (another 8k)
Short break by a creek.
Got to welcome flat and I stretched out in the sun while Nick unloaded some supplies for our return. Brilliant idea to decrease weight!
Douglas rock was allegedly 7k and 3 hours from welcome flat. The first bit was along the flats and not too bad.
Gorgeous skies.

Stopping for a break in the sunshine about 5:45pm.
Then we started going up......
And up. And up. I probably would have been alright if we hadn't already walked 18k before we started this part. There were some quite treacherous bits that Nick carried my pack up so I could scramble up. In addition, while it was supposed to take 3 hours, it ended up being 3:45.  Based on our previous speeds we thought it would take us just 2 and a half, so the continued walking with seemingly no end was a little demoralizing.
The views were good. This ended up being just about 15 minutes from the hut. But I had become convinced we were on a never ending journey...
Finally came to the bridge with the hut on the other side!  We clocked it on the way down and was more like 9.5k. Which makes a huge difference when you are already 25k in!
Triumph! Super strenuous walk but quite worth it.....I  would never have made it up without constant encouragement and Nick literally dragging me up at times :)
