Gillespies Beach 1

Our day in Fox Glacier we drove over to Gillespies beach, where it was sunny again!  We saw the track closure sign, but never really know if that is accurate.  So we presed on ahead.  It was a gorgeous day, but super windy once we got to the beach!

Gold dredge from times gone by.

Stepping out on to the beautiful but windy beach!

Walking up along the lagoon towards the washed out bridge (hence the track closure)

While the bridge was washed out, it was still low tide so we were able to cross.  We didn't do the longer hike for fear of returning at high tide and being stranded.  But we did get out to the miners tunnel for some nice views along the coast.  Rough seas!
