Roy's Peak 1

Our first hike all together as a group was Roy's Peak in Wanaka.  Getting there was a challenge as our rental subaru from 1985 broke down as soon as confronted with a hill.  Luckily we were able to get a SUV from enterprise and we were on the road again within an hour!  Some clouds in Wanaka were welcome, as we were going up 4000+ feet in about 5 miles....

Up and Up and Up!

Lake Wanaka slowly got smaller and smaller...

Looking back towards town.  Far in the distance is Lake Hawea, where we would be staying that night.

Plenty of sheep!

Starting to cool off a little as we gain more elevation.

Smaller bay off the lake.  Coming around this corner it got quite chilly and more windy.

I will eventually go out to that lookout...
