Honokane Nui

After lunch, I found the correct trail and went up and up to the ridge between the pololu and honokane nui valleys.

Fantastic rainforest views.  Evidence of monkeys, but didn't see one in person.

At the end of the trail is a bench and a great view point.

I sat there for awhile with another group of hikers, one of whom lived in Hilo.  He said you can backpack for 3-4 days to get back to Waipi'o valley where I had been that morning.  It is past the farthest ridge line in the photo.

I then headed back into the woods to get back down to the beach.
