Mauna Kea 2

I really enjoyed all the interesting clouds that were coming and going through the sky.  I was very glad it was not a hot and sunny day with all this climbing.  Temperatures were perfect.  At this point I was confident I would make it to the top.

Looking back down the trail I had come up.

Came up to another saddle surrounded by red lava, like something from Mars.

And finally seeing a little snow in the distance!  Around 11000 feet here.

I continued heading up towards the snow.

Can see the summit cone in the far distance now, with the road going up it.

First step in snow in Hawai'i!

Mauna Loa still there, but the very top in the clouds.
