Kaikoura 1

After Hanmer, we took the inland route to Kaikoura.  There were quite a bit of slips and roadworks and quake damage on the way.  Once we got to the town however, most things were intact.  Since the water table dropped significantly, the whale boats are limited and were full.  So we took a nice walk along the shore from the city centre eventually over to the marina.

Lovely weather and still a good amount of flowers!

Our first walk along the beach came to a small inlet that was a little to broad and deep to cross, so we back tracked to the actual trail!

Heading along the pathway along the foreshore.  I *think* these are replica whale ribs, not real...

There were unfortunately signs all over the beach stating the water was contaminated from sewage and run off.  A few boats still on the beach however.

Continuing along the esplanade towards the wharf.
